The Millennium IGU: A Regenerative Concept for a 1000 Year Insulated Glass Unit

The Millennium IGU: A Regenerative Concept for a 1000 Year Insulated Glass Unit is an ongoing series published by the Advanced Technology Studio of Enclos examining the undesirable lifecycle impacts associated with conventional IGU production, use and disposal.

Part One examines the unintended consequences of current facade practices. Part Two identifies the design assumptions and materials responsible for a millennium IGU (M-IGU). Part Three concludes the series with a discussion of maintenance as a strategy for renewal and lifecycle assessment (LCA) considerations.

The paper was originally presented at GlassCon Global in July 2014, and published in the event's conference proceedings.
