Professor of Architecture at Norwich University
Wendy Cox is a Professor of Architecture at Norwich University and a registered architect since 1996 with a private practice, studio twentyseven, located in Warren, Vermont and Vinalhaven, Maine. Her research area is in the connections between the sciences particularly the physical sciences and the architectural discipline explored through immersive environments. She teaches courses in modern architectural history and theory and design studios focusing on cultural critique. She has been a guest critic for SCI-Arc, Dartmouth College, École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-La Villette, UMass Amherst, Smith College, Marywood, RISD, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Visiting Assistant Professor in Middlebury College’s Architectural Studies program. She received her undergraduate degree from Miami University, Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado, Denver and Post Graduate EDGE Master of Design Theory and Pedagogy degree from SCI-Arc, Los Angeles. Her participation as an intern with Eisenman Architects is recognized in several publications, including Progressive Architecture’s 1990 Awards issue. Her work has been exhibited at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., the Nexus Art Gallery in Atlanta, GA, and the University of Colorado, Denver. She received an artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont and she was a research fellow at the Wolfram Science Summer Program in 2006 where she initiated the study of 3D branching with surface envelope. And is currently transitioning a 2006 shipping container into a two-bedroom home.
