Mikkel is currently establishing a new department as part of a major restructure of the Faculty of Technical Sciences. The department covers a range of aspects in building design and structural engeering. Mikkel returned to academia after having held various positions spanning research, specialist contracting, specialist consulting, supplier, and having chaired the Society of Facade Engineering, and has unique insight into high performance building solutions as well as the role of specialist design input in the construction industry.
