Hugo Balderas is the Head of Architecture at Grupo Anima, a design and construction company based in Mexico City. After studying Architecture at Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) – during which he worked part-time at Espiñeira y Muro Arquitectos – he was invited to collaborate with Alberto Djaddah Jamous (UIA) on what would eventually become Grupo Anima. Over the past 19 years, Hugo has led a team that has developed more than 110 residential, office, mixed-use, and hospitality projects throughout Mexico under the brand names Punto Destino, Aura, and Viadora. Since 2014, he has been collaborating with Belzberg Architects, Neme Design Studio, and Arup among others, on several award-winning projects.
