Aarhus University, Denmark

Description

At the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, we focus on sustainable design, construction, operation and maintenance of the built environment. Primarily, we apply classical technical and natural science disciplines to meet the growing societal demand for increasingly refined buildings, but we are also characterised by the fact that building and building design is an interdisciplinary collaboration.

Many of our research and development activities are based on companies' specific innovation needs or specialist application areas. Close collaboration with the public sector and private companies ensures that the knowledge and technology generated in the department's research environments has a clear anchoring in reality and benefits society as whole. We also provide research-based public sector consultancy and advice within different aspects of sustainable construction.

At the department, we educate both BSc and MSc graduates in engineering for Danish society.

The department was established on 1 January 2021 at Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University simultaneously with three other engineering departments; Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering and Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering.
