DOE Announces Request for Information on DRAFT Window Technologies and Systems R&D Opportunities

DOE's RFI for Windows R&D Plan

FTI is working to develop a relationship with the US Department of Energy (DOE) to help shape their activities in alignment with our mission and we are excited to share this important opportunity.

The Building Technologies Office (BTO) at the DOE periodically updates its multiyear planning documents that help define its future programs and research investments. BTO has a large portfolio of activities that include R&D, Deployment, Standards and integration with the utility grid. The planning documents help guide future public investments in these activities.

DOE recently completed its Draft Research and Development Opportunities (RDO) assessment for Windows. The RDO document is available to download from the DOE website.

DOE seeks input from across the glazing, window and facade industry to help fine tune and prioritize their R&D agenda. They have issued a “Request for Information” (RFI) that formalizes how they are collecting feedback on objectives, targets, tools and priorities outlined in the RDO. The RFI document can also be downloaded from the DOE website.

RFI responses are due to DOE by July 20.

We encourage you to review the RDO and RFI documents and respond directly to the DOE. FTI will also be responding to the RFI, so if you prefer, you can send your response/comments directly to us and we will incorporate them under the FTI umbrella. If you respond to the DOE directly, please copy us on your response so we can track the interests of our network as expressed to the DOE. Please send a copy of your responses to Katie.

Your participation is critical; please respond!
